2001 | 30cm x 40cm | Woven Tapestry. Double cotton warp. Cotton, linen and wool weft.

Shadows touch, people touch. A memory is left in the sand. This is a captured moment of intimacy. It shows a human presence in nature reaching out for a human touch. Shadows simplify the image. We don't know who the people are or their expressions. We only see their interaction. Is it a plea or a caress? Shadows represent our brief time and transience on the land. The tide could come in at any time and wash over the image, changing it, or the sun disappears and the image is lost. We should pass over the land as if as a shadow instead of the destruction and the lack of care that we take of it.
