2023 | 25cm x 24cm | Weft is indigo-dyed wool, space-dyed silk, gold zari thread on a double cotton warp (one blue warp and one green warp)
Indigo Dreams is woven for the Tapestry Touring International exhibition, Verve. My theme is a dream-like atmosphere using intense greens and blues. The tapestry has a double warp, a green thread and a blue thread which are woven together. The background weft is indigo-dyed wool working with a mix of turquoise linen, space-dyed silk and an acid green wool. It is interspersed with antique gold zari thread. It is an imagined landscape or a stretch of water. It was inspired by a photograph that I took of a weathered board. As in a dream, nothing is quite as it seems.
