This is a woven tapestry representing the joy of looking at the stars in the night sky. I was working on a project with the theme of "illumination". I thought about stars in the night sky. For the darkness of the night sky, I used a mixture of dark blue and dark purple wool threads. The dancers represent the stars and were based on a series of prints I made of prehistoric figures. They are woven in gold and silver zari thread. Around them, I mixed wool, cotton and a blue metallic thread to show their shimmering light spreading out. The warp is cotton, with a sett of 4 ends per centimeter. This piece is woven using traditional tapestry weaving techniques and mounted in an unglazed black frame.
